Back in June we had the pleasure of participating in a fantastic event, the Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp, in support of KidSport Winnipeg. The camp raised close to $35,000.00. All of the proceeds from the event go towards paying registration fees for kids in Winnipeg in order to allow them to play sports.
The following is a report from Christine Hoenisch of KidSport Winnipeg:
On Saturday June 18 over 150 kids signed up for the hockey camp participated in a pre-registration event at FXR’s store. They tested out their slap shot speed, met Chris Driedger (Ottawa Senators) & Brendan Leipsic (Toronto Maple Leafs) and picked up items for the camp along with some great FXR giveaways!
The 2nd Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp presented by FXR took place Saturday June 25 & Sunday June 26, 2016. The camp was in support of KidSport Winnipeg who believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. The sold-out two-day hockey camp was held at the MTS Iceplex and hosted 250 kids between the ages of 5-12. Along with Scheifele, Chet Pickard and Winnipeg Jets Michael Hutchinson, Mark Stuart, Nic Petan, Josh Morrissey, JC Lipon and Julian Melchiori assisted the Jets Hockey Development Team on ice.
“I’m really looking forward to the hockey camp this weekend,” said Scheifele. “Last year the kids and I had a great time and this year I’ve invited some of my friends to come along and help out. We can’t wait to get out on the ice with all these kids who are so enthusiastic about hockey and want to work at developing their skills; above all else we want the kids to have fun and enjoy every moment of the camp.”
“It’s very exciting to support Mark’s hockey camp and KidSport Winnipeg,“ said Milt Reimer, owner of FXR. “We are proud to support a local community program like KidSport that helps kids who normally would not have an opportunity to participate in sports due to financial limitations. It’s impressive to see the commitment of Mark and other players who are taking the time to coach, inspire and hang out with these kids! We are honored to support Mark and KidSport Winnipeg in creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.”
