Enduro GP of Estonia
New official Yamaha factory rider Erik Appelqvist debuted on his WR 250 with a bang. He took third place on Sunday in the Enduro GP of Estonia. After only a few hours on the new bike, he really came on hard during the last special test to take third place.
Erik Appelqvist — “It was my first race with the team and I’m happy with how things went during the weekend in Estonia. I’m thankful to the whole team for giving me the opportunity to race the remainder of the series on their WR250F machine. My time on the bike has been limited so the GP of Estonia gave us a good chance to get some more racing miles on the new bike. The bike is really good and I immediately felt comfortable to push. Some small mistakes and a few crashes on day one didn’t let me show what I’m capable of. The more time I get on the bike the better I feel and that was easy to see on day two. I started the day with a good pace and had a good fight with the guys in front of me. Overall, I’m happy with how things are moving forward. The goal now is to get more seat time on the WR250F. The team are doing an awesome job and I can’t thank them enough for their huge support. We now need to keep working hard so that we can come back and look for better results at the next GP in Italy.”
